The state government is preparing to reorganize the districts within Greater Hyderabad, similar to the reorganization of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. It is understood that the state government wants the boundaries of the newly formed Future City Police Commissionerate and the reorganized Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Malkajgiri Police Commissionerates to align with the district boundaries. Until recently, Greater Hyderabad had three police commissionerates and three districts.

Following the division of Greater Hyderabad into four police commissionerates, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has reportedly instructed officials to also change the boundaries of the three districts. It is learned that senior revenue officials are collecting details to change the boundaries of Hyderabad and Malkajgiri districts. A new district is likely to be created to match the jurisdiction of the newly formed Future City Commissionerate. A ​​draft notification regarding this is expected to be released in a few days.

Changes and additions in Hyderabad district: Several changes and additions are expected in Hyderabad district. Currently, this district has 16 mandals. It is understood that Tirumalagiri and Marredpally mandals will be transferred to Malkajgiri district. The Begumpet area in Ameerpet mandal will be included as part of the Malkajgiri area. While Bandlaguda and Bahadurpura are currently the border mandals of Hyderabad district, this will now extend to Rajendranagar and Shamshabad mandals. It is understood that only the areas within the GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) limits in these mandals will fall under the Hyderabad district.

Decision on Abdullapurmet mandal pending: Medchal-Malkajgiri district is currently spread across the Cyberabad and Malkajgiri Police Commissionerates. After the reorganization, it is understood that the district will extend only as far as the Malkajgiri Commissionerate’s jurisdiction. Hayathnagar and Saroornagar mandals from Rangareddy district will be merged into Medchal-Malkajgiri district. After the reorganization, the LB Nagar (Rangareddy district) and Cantonment (Hyderabad district) assembly constituencies, which are part of the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency, will come under the Medchal district. Although Abdullapurmet mandal is under the Malkajgiri Police Commissionerate, a decision has not yet been made on this mandal as it falls outside the GHMC limits.

Changes in Rangareddy district:
Due to the vast area of ​​Rangareddy district and the presence of several IT companies, industries, and gated communities within its limits, it is reported that it will be divided into urban and rural districts. The entire Cyberabad Police Commissionerate area will be divided into an urban district, and the Future City Commissionerate area will be designated as a rural district. It is understood that Shadnagar, Shamshabad rural mandal, Chevella, Amanagal, Keshampet, Talakondapally, Madgul, Yacharam, Manchal, Kandukur, and Maheshwaram mandals will be included in the rural district. As part of the Census-2027, a housing census will be conducted nationwide from April to September of next year. A senior IAS officer revealed that the reorganization process will be undertaken by the end of January next year.

The state government issued orders merging 20 municipalities and 7 municipal corporations adjacent to the Outer Ring Road (ORR) into the GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation). With this, the boundaries of Hyderabad city have expanded up to the Outer Ring Road.
