GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan on Cleanliness for Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan has called for the participation of all the people of Hyderabad city for good governance in the mega city. Recently, GHMC has expanded into 300 wards, 60 circles and 12 zones with the merger of 27 municipalities in GHMC. In this context, RV Karnan revealed that the target of 100 percent cleanliness will be achieved by 2026. He explained the progress and development work achieved by GHMC in 2025. Keeping Hyderabad metropolis clean is the first duty, said GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan. He revealed that he is moving forward with plans to make the city top in cleanliness by 2026. He said that GHMC has achieved sixth rank at the national level in the 2025 Swachh Survekshan. In the wake of the expansion of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation from 650 square kilometers to almost 2 thousand kilometers, it was revealed that DEEs and AEs have been appointed specifically for sanitation management as per the orders of the CM and are constantly monitoring it. He said that among the states that generate electricity from garbage, they are ranked first in the country with a 24 MW plant at Jawahar Nagar. He said that negligence in garbage management will not be tolerated. He said that 10,752 challans were issued in 2025 and Rs. 2.34 crore fines were imposed on GHMC. Karnan clarified that the current sanitation special drive will continue for 30 days and that apart from removing garbage, old vehicles parked in front of houses will also be removed.
