The Election Authority has officially released the schedule for the upcoming Municipal Elections, outlining a detailed timeline from the announcement to the counting of votes.

According to the notification, the election schedule will be formally announced on January 16, marking the beginning of the electoral process. The nomination phase will take place over three days, from January 18 to January 20, allowing eligible candidates to file their nomination papers.

The scrutiny of nominations is scheduled for January 21, during which election officials will examine the submitted documents to ensure compliance with election rules. Candidates wishing to withdraw their nominations may do so on January 23.

On January 24, official election symbols will be allocated to the contesting candidates. Campaigning will officially begin the following day, January 25, giving candidates a week to reach out to voters.

The campaign period will conclude on February 1, after which all electioneering activities must cease. Polling day has been fixed for February 3, when voters will cast their ballots to elect their municipal representatives.

The process will culminate with the counting of votes on February 6, after which the election results will be declared.
